Hewlett Packard HP-33s
- Type: Programmable RPN/Algebraic Electronic Calculator

- Serial number: CNA 52702320

With faux leather sleeve case and manual. Operates in RPN and Algebraic modes, with RPN as the surprising default. Includes 32K of battery backed-up RAM for storing variables, equations and keystroke programs. Three namespaces exist for each of those categories, the available names being the single letters A through Z. An indirection register, i, is available.
Physical styling is ... um ... well, unaesthetic. Why the 'V' motif for the keys was necessary, I have no idea. Keys have a good solid feel. Not Classic HP, but close, with the hinge at the bottom.
At the software level, features are extensive, but muddled. I sense a feeling of engineer frustration, as though someone really wanted to create a cool calculator, but were restrained somehow. Some potentially useful complex math operations are missing (square root comes to mind, but you can use yx). The keyboard is overloaded. User programs can only have single-letter labels. There are no soft keys. Some keys lead to simple menus. It's a very chaotic unit.
The manual seems complete. If you get this unit, keep it handy.
The unit is powered by two CR2032 cells. If you replace them one at a time, memory will be preserved.
