Psion Organiser II Comms Link
- Type: Computer Accessory
- Size: 1.5 x 3 in / 4 x 7 cm (Cable length: 5 ft / 1.5 m)
Plugs into the back of the Psion Organiser II, then to a RS-232 serial port on an IBM-compatible PC or a printing device. The unit provides a terminal program allowing one to use the Organiser as a dumb terminal and provides a programming interface for your OPL programs.
There is a socket for an AC adapter as well, since this unit plugs in to the same port the Mains Adapter uses. A 25-to-9 pin adapter is included.
The unit originally came with an MSDOS server application to facilitate easy file transfers and backups. This program doesn't work correctly with modern Windows releases (why?) but Boris Cornet has provided Psi2Win free for personal use.
An attempt to use this module to communicate to a Kenwood TH-D7A data radio had mixed results. While I could send characters to the internal TNC, the Psion (and/or the Comms Link) inserted so much noise into the audio that the radio could not decode incoming packets.
